Why it happens
The collagen and elastin that hold skin against what is underneath it break down with age, so the skin stops springing back.
Fat pads in the face shrink and shift downward, so there is less underneath holding the skin up.
Weight loss removes volume faster than skin can contract to match it.

- A jawline that is less defined than it was
- Skin that stays creased for a moment when you pinch and release it
- Loose skin under the chin or along the jaw

Common questions about sagging skin and laxity
Can loose skin be tightened without surgery?
Sometimes. Skin that still has spring in it responds to heat-based tightening. Skin that has lost most of its elasticity does not, and a facelift gives the better result. Dr Sultan will tell you which you have.
How long before I see anything?
Some tightening happens immediately from the heat, but the real change comes from new collagen, which builds over months. Most of these treatments are judged at six months, not six days.
Is one treatment enough?
For radiofrequency contouring, usually yes. For the treatments that work through the surface of the skin, usually not; those are courses.
