Why it happens
The fat pads that sit under the cheeks and temples shrink and move downward with age.
Bone itself changes shape over decades, so the structure the face is built on gives less support.
Weight loss takes volume from the face first, and often disproportionately.

Common questions about facial hollowness
Is filler the only option?
No. Filler replaces volume immediately. A collagen stimulator prompts your own tissue to rebuild instead, which takes months but is not a product sitting under the skin. He will talk you through both.
Will more filler make me look better?
Not past a point. Volume replaced in the wrong place, or too much of it, reads as filler rather than as a face. His stated position is that less is more.
Can it be reversed?
Hyaluronic acid filler can be dissolved. Collagen stimulators cannot, which is one of the things to weigh when choosing between them.
