Why it happens
Inflammation from acne damages the collagen under the skin, and the skin heals with a depression where the collagen was lost.
Different scars form differently: some are narrow and deep, others wide and shallow, and they do not all respond to the same treatment.
The pigment left behind after a spot is not a scar and fades on its own, though it can take months.

- Texture that shows in side lighting more than straight on
- Skin that feels uneven under the fingertips

Common questions about acne scarring
Can acne scarring be removed completely?
No. It can be made considerably less visible. Anyone offering removal is overselling it.
Should I treat scarring while I still get spots?
No. Active acne is treated first. Resurfacing skin that is still breaking out does not hold.
How many sessions?
A course, usually with more than one technique. He will tell you roughly how many at the consultation once he has seen the type of scarring you have.
