Why it happens
Moles are collections of pigment cells. Most are harmless and stay that way for life.
A mole that changes in size, shape, colour or edge needs assessing rather than removing for looks.
Skin tags and other benign lesions appear more often with age and where skin rubs.
How you know
- A mole or lesion that catches on clothing, a razor or jewellery
- Something you would rather was not there
- Anything that has changed, which needs checking rather than removing
If more than one of these sounds like you, that is normal. Most people have two or three things happening at once, which is part of why he assesses before recommending anything.
What he uses for moles and skin lesions
Which of these suits you, and whether any of them does, is decided at the consultation. He will say if none of them is right rather than book one.

Common questions about moles and skin lesions
What if my mole is changing?
Then it needs assessment, not cosmetic removal. He will say so and will not book it as a cosmetic procedure.
Will there be a mark?
Yes. Every removal leaves something. The method is chosen partly on which leaves the least on that part of the body.
Laser or surgery?
Depends on the lesion. Laser suits some and leaves less. Surgical excision is more certain and is what is used where certainty matters.
Please read This page describes moles and skin lesions in general terms. It is not medical advice and it is not a diagnosis. What is causing yours, and what would help it, can only be decided by Dr Sultan after he has examined you.
